Supported messages are encrypted on your phone for server-authorized recipients, including separately encrypted guardian recipients where required.
Chat
Keep private things private.
Message, call and share with the people you actually know.
- Encrypted on your phone.Supported clients encrypt messages for server-authorized recipients before they leave your device. Required guardian recipients receive separately encrypted delivery; confirmed compatible-minor peer chats do not add guardians solely because participants are minors.
- More than text.Send photos, voice notes and reactions, and call each other.
- Found only if you want to be.Handle discovery is off by default, and message requests are a separate switch.
The protocol has not yet had an independent audit. Details are in the FAQ and Privacy Policy.
Space
Post publicly without exposing your private handle.
- A reusable public alias.Share thoughts, images, videos and threads under a name that is separate from your DM handle.
- Not a free pass.Aether can still link an alias to its account, so moderators can act on abuse.
Channels and Live
Give your community one place to gather.
A Channel holds your feed, group chat, Live streams, events and content library. You approve who joins.
- Go Live.Stream your camera, voice or a game. Viewers chat, subscribe and send Aether Coin gifts.
- Run tournaments.Host community events and broadcast them from the Channel.
- Get paid.Offer memberships, and as an eligible verified creator, cash out your earnings once you meet the minimum.
Safety
Teens get a protected version of Aether.
Confirmed minors keep protected chat and an age-group Space. Features that carry more risk stay off.
- No Live, Coins or voice calls for minors.Sponsored placements are off for them too.
- Hidden from adult discovery.Protected minor accounts do not show up when adults search for handles.
- Report and block anywhere.Every conversation, profile, post and Live menu has both.
Read the Terms and safety standards, or contact our safety team.
Questions
Before you download
Is Aether free?
Yes. Aether is a free download on Google Play. Optional purchases include Aether Coins for gifts and features, and the adult memberships Hercules and Njord, which add cosmetics and higher-quality media processing.
Are my messages end-to-end encrypted?
Supported clients encrypt message content on the sender's device for the server-authorized recipient set. Where safety rules require it, that set includes each current approved guardian, with separately encrypted delivery; confirmed compatible-minor peer chats do not add guardians solely because participants are minors. Aether's custom protocol has not yet completed an independent cryptographic audit, and recipients can still copy what they receive.
Do I have to use my real name?
No. In Space you post under a reusable public alias that is separate from your private chat handle. An alias is not anonymity: Aether can link it to your account for safety and moderation.
Can teenagers use Aether?
Aether is for ages 13+. Confirmed minors get protected chat and an age-group Space with managed permission. Live, Coins, voice calls and sponsored placements are unavailable to them.
How do I delete my account?
Open Settings, then Safety & account, then Delete account and data. If you cannot open the app, follow these steps.
Bring your friends to Aether.
Start with a private group chat. Open a Channel when your community is ready for one.
