Copyright and trademark reports

Last updated 26 September 2026

Who runs this process

Aether is operated by The AECE Studio in Nigeria. We handle copyright reports under the notice-and-takedown provisions of the Nigerian Copyright Act 2022. People anywhere, including in the European Union and the United States, can use the same process.

Report content

If you believe a post, photo, video, Channel item, Live replay or profile on Aether uses your copyright or trademark without permission, email [email protected] with the subject "Aether copyright report". Include:

  • your name, postal address, email and phone number;
  • the work or trademark you own, or a link to it;
  • where it appears on Aether: the @alias, Channel name, or a share link to the exact post;
  • a statement that you believe in good faith the use is not authorized by you, your agent or the law;
  • a statement that your report is accurate and that you own the rights or are authorized to act for the owner;
  • your full name typed as a signature.

Reports missing these details may take longer, because we will need to ask for them.

What we do with a report

We review every complete report. If it is valid, we remove or block the content promptly and tell the uploader what was removed and why. We may share your name and the report with the uploader so they can respond. We do not disclose private child-safety material merely because it is named in an intellectual-property report.

If your content was removed

If you believe your content was removed by mistake, or that you had the right to use it, reply to our removal message or email [email protected] with the subject "Aether counter-notice". Include the content that was removed, why you believe the removal was a mistake, your contact details, and your full name typed as a signature.

We send your counter-notice to the person who reported the content. If they do not tell us within 10 working days that they have started legal proceedings, we may restore the content.

Repeat infringers

Accounts that repeatedly upload content that infringes someone else's rights are suspended and, where appropriate, permanently removed. We usually act after three valid reports within 12 months, and sooner for serious or deliberate infringement. Suspended users can appeal by contacting support.

False reports

Knowingly false reports or counter-notices can create legal liability for the person who sends them, and may lead to restrictions on their Aether account.
